MEMO to the SLUSH PILE #3

To: ---------------

Re: ---------------

When your protagonist loses a limb to a monster, she doesn't go home, clean herself up, and put on a pretty dress AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED, EVEN WHEN IT DOESN'T HURT. And she certainly doesn't plan on JERKING OFF HER BOYFRIEND later.

God help me. Why am I even reading this?

MEMO TO THE SLUSH PILE #2

To: -------

Re: Your Bio

Are you Anne Rice incognito? Tad Williams or George R.R. Martin? If so, I can understand how you might be 'taking the world by storm' . But until you learn how to handle characterization effectively, I think you've a ways to go.

MEMO TO THE SLUSH PILE, BECAUSE THIS DOESN'T WARRANT A LETTER....

To -----:  For some reason, every single time you use a quotation mark in your manuscript, I see an Ò or an Ó, depending on whether it's an opening or a closing mark. Your apostrophe shows up as an Õ. If you have an HP laptop (like mine) it may be you've struck the control and shift keys together at the same time. Did you proofread your piece before sending it out? You couldn't have.

I've tried to read it, but every time I get immersed in your story, another Ò, Ó, or Õ pulls me out of it. It's just too much. I need to get on with things. I have a lot of other stories to read. Sorry.
